Reg Mayhew's Family History

MY BAGSHAW FAMILY

My Bagshaw family link is through my maternal 3 x Great Grandmother, Mary Bagshaw. Mary, one of 6 children of John and Elizabeth (nee Stokes) married my 3 x Great Grandfather James Rice, in Aston, Birmingham on 26th August 1829.

From Mary, I've traced my Bagshaw ancestry back to my 8 x Great Grandfather, Edward Bagshaw, who married Mary (possibly nee Gibbons) c1695. Edward and Mary's son, William (c1698-?), was my 7 x Great Grandfather.

William Bagshaw, my 7 x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 10th April 1698 at Eyton on the Weald Moors, Shropshire. He married Jane Freeman on 20th April 1723 at All Saints, Wellington, Shropshire, when he was recorded as a Husbandman (a Farmer). William and Jane's son, Edward, was my 6 x Great Grandfather.

Edward Bagshaw, my 6 x Great grandfather, was baptised at Eyton on the Weald Moors on 30th May 1724. He married Sarah Cranmore at Chetwynd, Shropshire on 3rd October 1752. Edward and Sarah had 6 children, of whom the eldest was Allen (c1752-?), my 5 x Great Grandfather.

Allen Bagshaw, my 5 x Great Grandfather, was baptised at Holy Trinity, Sutton Coldfield on 4th October 1752 and married Sarah Chatfield at Holy Trinity,Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire on 21st March 1774. Allen and Sarah had 5 children, all boys, and their 2nd son, John (c1778-?), was my 4 x Great Grandfather.

John Bagshaw, my 4 x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 13th February 1778 at Holy Trinity, Sutton Coldfield. He married Elizabeth Stokes on 25th March 1798 at St. Martin's, Birmingham and they had 6 children. Their youngest, and only daughter, Mary Ann Elizabeth (c1807-?)was my 3 x Great Grandmother.

Mary Bagshaw, my 3 x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 24th November 1808 at St. Phillip's, Birmingham and married James Rice at St. Peter's, Aston, Birmingham on 26th August 1829.
